Question : What effect does living with mold have on people and animals?
We lived in a new house for 1 & 1/2 years. We moved to a different part of the country. We finally have a buyer for our home and the home inspection revealed the builders had neglected to put down the moisture barrier and insulation causing mold. This is being corrected but I wonder if this contributed to the death of my husband who was recovered from cancer but had a very weak imune system to pass away sooner; also concerned about the two surviving adults and 2 dogs and if there is anything we should do.

Mold growth in buildings can lead to a variety of health issues. Various practices can be followed to mitigate mold issues in buildings, the most important of which is to reduce moisture levels that can facilitate mold growth. Removal of affected materials after the source of moisture has been reduced and/or eliminated may be necessary for remediation. I might have been a cause for the death of your husband if he died of respiratory problems.
