Does this sound like a scam to you?
Question : Does this sound like a scam to you?
I received the following email while trying to sell my car:
How are you doing ? is your item still available and it’s exactly as
you described I would definitely be interested in purchasing this
immediately, moreso just to let you know that I’ll not be available for
the pick-up due to nature of my job,so i will engage the services of a
mover to pick up my items for me. I’ll send you a check via my bank to
cover the cost of the item and the movers fund which would have to
clear before the pick up is done…the check will be made for
$ 5500…so when you get the check you have it cashed into your
account and deduct your certain amount and another $ 100 which is a
gift from me….. then you would have the rest fund sent out to my
mover via money gram money transfer…He would be using part of the
money to transport himself down to your location and use the rest to
pick up the item at your end and other items to be picked up in the
neighborhood and deliver them to me altogether. If you are ok with
these pls provide me the following information:
Name to be on the check,
Residential mailing address
city
zipcode
Telephone #
It will be delivered by the United Parcel Service within 2-3
days.Pls i will be glad to continue this transaction with honesty and
trustworthiness.Once again i will be glad if you can remove the advert
on CL,as am truly going to buy this from you Hope to hear from you
soon with the information thanks.

yeah i think its prob. a scam.
Here’s the situation:
1. The person wants to offer to pay more than your set price for the car you’re selling
2. You get the bogus check where the scammer wants you to deposit it in your bank account and wire the money back to them
3. Then you get the request from them to remove the ad from your local paper
4. And in addition to all of the above reasons, they want you to give them your personal information
Here’s a no-brainer answer: It’s nothing but an outright scam by the looks of things. You must never do any of the above. Cease further communications with the scammers. Spam that message straight into oblivion right away.
