Does new car maintenance have to be done by a dealer?
Question : Does new car maintenance have to be done by a dealer?
I hope to buy a new car next year. The problem is the brand of car I am interested in does not have a dealer near my home. I live in a rural area. If I am required to go to a location that has a brand name dealer I will be driving about 230 miles just for something simple like an oil change! I would think they would require this in order for my warranty to be honored but thought I would ask and see if anyone knows this answer for sure. Thank you in advance for your help,.

yes it would have to be done by the dealer in order for the warranty to be honored.if neone else does it,it could void it.seen it happen plenty of times.
If you live in the Usa then you Dont have to have the dealer to the maintenance, there is a law regarding that. However, some vehicles require certain fluids for coolant, transmission, power steering and brake fluid, so if an aftermarket does any flushes etc, and use the wrong fluid, which I have seen many times, then you will not be covered. Just find a reputable shop and you will be fine.
