Question : Do I need a managing broker’s license to open a property management firm in Washington State?
From what I understand I need a broker’s license to do property management, but if I want to start my own firm that does solely property management, must I have a managing broker’s license or a designated broker over me?

There are a few states that would require you to have a real estate broker license to operate a property management company. Then there are some states that simply require you to have a real estate sales license.

Washington state has introduced a new property management license.

To become a property manager in Washington state, you do not need to attend property management school; you need to obtain a Washington real estate license as a salesperson. Property management training and licensing is included as part of the salesperson license curriculum.
