From the supplier: Congress approved several new laws before it went on a recess in Aug. 1996. Prior to the flurry of activity which characterized the weeks before the recess, legislators have been stuck in an impasse over several of the new measures. The new laws mandated an increase in the minimum wage, tax relief for small businesses, health insurance reform and welfare reform. However, Congress has yet to finish deliberations on the proposed federal appropriations bills for 1997.
