Best place to move for high mountains, good skiing and relatavly low cost of living?

Question : Best place to move for high mountains, good skiing and relatavly low cost of living?
Where is the best place to move for high mountains, (like the rockies) snow all winter long and a relatavly low cost of living? But still having a mountain town charm to it? (Not on the east coast the mountains arent high enough and it dosnt snow all winter long)
Ive considered Europe , what countries would be good there?

Heber City, Utah. Minutes from skiing at Park City. Cost of living much less than Park City or Salt Lake City. Plenty to do there: hot springs, camping, hiking, and definitely mountain town charm and snow all winter long.

Steamboat Springs Colorado! Their Gonna get one of the best snow seasons ever this Year! The ski season starts november 21st and ends april 10th.

One place that hasn’t really been over commercialized is Mt Hood in Oregon. Pretty good snow, although not as good as Utah, Colorado, or Tahoe, but they scene there is really good.

Lots of cool locals and living is pretty good.

Towns: Welches, Government Camp, Hood River, Sandy.

You might want to consider Europe. I can’t think of a single ski resort in the west that has retained that “small-town charm”.

I believe every ski bum in the 70′s and 80′s pretty much ruined that for us!

About the closest I can think is southwest Colorado.

Telluride might be an option. Durango isn’t huge, and the town of Telluride is small…but I don’t know how “charming”.

Most of the rest of Colorado is all bought out, including Steamboat.

Montana might have something…maybe Bozeman, with skiing at Bridger Bowl.

Honestly, if you can bypass the small town thing, Salt Lake isn’t a bad option. I moved her 6 years ago. Best snow in North America, crazy skiing at Alta and Snowbird. Definitely not a small town though.

steamboat co happens to be “just a town”..normal activity with kick a$ $ snow. the area aside from the resort, though, seems a bit depressed.

The Salt lake city area, reno/truckee/tahoe area, bozeman montana, summit county CO.

For low cost of living bozeman is probably your best choice.

You may want to consider europe as well, if out of country is an option.

Edit: For Europe, France, Switzerland or Italy would be your best bets. If you can swing it I would say hit the france….whole different ballgame over there either way though, But you won’t regret it.
