Question : I am moving overseas, and my parents are very hurt, I am looking for ways to comfort them.?
My husband has been deported, we have been married for 3 years and have a 2 year old. I want to be with my husband, but that involves moving overseas and my parents are devastated. We are very close, and they currently care for our child while we work. I want to make this as easy on them as possible. Any suggestions?

This is me being realistic and blunt about your parents.
I think you need to tell your parents to grow up and get a computer.
Email contact is so easy these days.I moved overseas away from my parents 9 years ago (when I married a foreigner) and I dont regret the move at all. Sure I miss my parents but the super fast email contact does make things a lot easier.
My family back home have NEVER seen my son in real life – but they have watched him grow up through photographs – sent via email on a regular basis.

jus tell them that you need to be able to do things on your own. that your sorry that they are upset, but you are doing what you feel is right for you and your family. you could tell them you will visit for holidays and whenever you get the chance…. but only if you mean it. this is only what i would do! good luck :^)!!!!

You could call them daily and you should send them letters AT LEAST once a week, going over exciting news about your child or other things. Do they have a computer? Then get them an e-mail account and you can keep in touch with them quickly. For birthdays or special occasions save up money and fly back to them to celebrate. Moving from family doesn’t have to be hard, you just have to remember to keep in touch.

It will be hard for them to go from caring for their grandchild every day to never seeing it anymore. Get them set up with a webcam and skype before you go and they will be able to talk to you and the child on camera. It’s not the same but it’s better than nothing.
I suppose you will be able to visit sometimes and they can come visit you. Travelling today is not like the old days where you’d spend a month on a ship or something. Maybe when the child is older, he or she can even come stay with them sometimes over the summer. I have a cousin who lets her daughter spend a month with the grandparents every summer. It’s worked out great for them.
