Just lost $850 on a Home Inspection. What can I do?
Question : Just lost 0 on a Home Inspection. What can I do?
I was in the process of purchasing a home and had a home inspection done. On the papers that I and the seller signed it said that there were no known problems with the home. So we have an inspection done and there is problems with EVERYTHING!!! The septic system had problems, along with the water, mold in the attic, and the radon air level was 38000!! (not a typo!) Is there anything I can do to get any of my money back?

Threaten to take the real estate co. to court. I suspect they have paid the inspector to give you the OK when it actually was not. Refuse to make any payments until the previous owner makes the house liveable and you can get an OK from a non-involved home inspection agent.
Talk to your lawyer. Failure to disclose the problems with the property (and signing a document stating here are none) is fraud and in violation of the contract. You may end up suing the seller and the real estate agent to get your money back. What did the contract say? Most contracts spell out exactly who pays for what.
And depending on the laws in your area/state, the $ 850 may not be recoverable. But the $ 850 was certainly cheaper than buying a house that would require thousands of dollars to make right.
