Question : Is there mandatory liability insurance for rental cars in ohio?
I live in NY and rented a car from Avis in OH, without taking out liability insurance (ALI). I bumped someone’s car and I want to know if by law I’m covered up to a certain amount even without having any personal automobile or credit card insurance.
My questions was regarding the other car. I understand that the rental company has insurance for themselves; my question is if that covers me also, or will I have to pay out of pocket to cover their expenses to fix the other car.

Ask the hire company. In the UK, the only option you have is to pay a small fee when you hire a vehicle to waive your portion of the claim if you have a crash. In this country you have to have third party insurance BY LAW. I can’t see any state in the US hiring a vehicle out without insurance. If you crashed, how are they going to get their vehicle repaired, let alone the third party?
