Question : how di I get a link back from using yahoo answers?
I recently set up a new site and have been advised that a few backlinks would help get it indexed in the search engines and that I could obtain them by volunteering answers here on yahoo answers. I have also seen others answers in which links in the body and resource are actively hyperlinked. Links I post in answers do not appear to be active. Am I doing something wrong, is it because I am a new member? The link refers to my site http://www.olympiancares.com for instance, but I am the source and there is content on that site to support my answers since I am a home inspector and remodeling professional

Of course that’s officially considered spam and is a pain when they past the same unhelpful promo into every question. Though answers had a large number of viewers, the links inserted are tagged noFollow which instructs search engines to disregard the link, while some say there’s a small accumulated value from many noFollow links, it’s probably not worth your while to drop links here.

Try to only answer your you have something useful to offer and you may avoid being banned.

There are firefox browser plugins that will reveal whether a link is noFollow. The most accommodating sort of link may be comments on blogs with the linklove plugin, I believe that’s the one with the slogan “You comment, I follow” it actually adds the title of your blog’s latest post to the comment, with a doFollow link..
