www.firesprinklerinitiative.org A side-by-side room display set up at the Plymouth Massachusetts Fire Department. Sprinklers had been installed in only one of the rooms. Both rooms were set on fire. Home fire sprinklers are designed to activate when a certain degree of heat increase is reached, so as the temperature in the display went up, the sprinklers went off. As seen in this demonstration, the fire in the sprinklered room was controlled quickly by overhead sprinklers. In contrast, the fire in the room without sprinklers burned out of control until the fire department put out the fire.

NFPA is a non-profit organization supported by over 80,000 members worldwide NOT sprinkler manufacturers.
Were you looking at the same video I was? With the one completely open side? Guess not. Very real simulation here. But don’t fret, NFPA will give you a better scenario soon.

SUPER SKID MARK, that makes for the reason not to put a sprinkler over top of a stove but in all relativity the sprinkler is going to go off, and in the first minute atleast 16 gallons of water is going to come out of the head, and well i believe that is more than enough water to wash away the hot grease! where do you get your info from? Oh yeah the smoke detector is not going to put out the fire, and it damn sure aint gonna carry your ass through the flames. So tell me how it saves lives.

old building and a night club must have it installed. as for night club, it is suppose to use home version to prevent abuse by patron. it is beneficial for night club owner to have this installed and this could save life in case of fire broke out. the home version are usually covered with cap in the ceiling, when the fire broke it will then show up and goes off. remember that it is only activated by heat, not smoke

What a joke. It’s a sealed 8 x 10 room (minimum room size allowed by code is 7 x10) so the smoke has no place to go. Ideal for making this test look good, but hardly typical of most living rooms which are open to other rooms. If it was a kitchen grease fire and you ran to your stove as the sprinkler went off, you’d be covered by burning grease and severely burned. Smoke detectors save lives, sprinklers put out fires, sometimes. NFPA is funded by sprinkler manufacturers.
