may be moving to the pacific northwest, and was wondering how common is Black mold, or other types of mold found in Homes and Condos? is mold so common that its often looked over in home inspections there? are new homes built with anti-mold materials? should everyone expect to find mold in all homes in the Pacific Northwest? thanks

It can be a MAJOR problem there because of the climate. It turns up especially in older (older than 10-15 years) stucco homes, but you will find it in homes with siding as well.

In a home inspection, it’s always best to ask specifically about your concerns rather than assume that it’s being done. If you are concerned about mold, then bring it up with the inspection agent.

I’ve seen multi multi million dollar homes in the Portland area be demolished because of mold, but I’ve also seen the same thing in Daytona and Las Vegas. I’ve seen multi million dollar homes have hundreds and hundreds of thousands of dollars in mold damage in all 3 areas as well.
