How much does it cost to hire a moving company to move our house full of stuff across the country?
Question : How much does it cost to hire a moving company to move our house full of stuff across the country?
How much would it cost to have a company drive a big moving truck full of our stuff from CA to TX pulling our car behind us? Also, have them load and unload for us?
Thanks!

Depends on the company. If they’re family owned, they might be a little cheaper. Look for family owned moving companies.
But expect to shell out big bucks for nationally known moving companies, such as Atlas and United Van Lines. You could probably expect to spend anywhere between 5,000- 10,000.
To load your stuff at your current place, have your friends and family help you.
It would probably be cheaper for u to rent a UHaul or Budget truck with a car trailer. You can also find some Mexicans to help you unload at your new place. Usually they’re hanging around the truck rental places or you can ask around where to find them. They probably charge $ 10 an hour. I’ve used them before several times and everything worked out fine.
I’d start looking online for different quotes. If you’re towing a car…u have to know what year, make and model. They add that in the total price.
It really depends on how much stuff you have – moving companies base their pricing off of weight estimates. The first thing you should do is contact agents for the national van lines that are in your area. Those van lines include Mayflower, United, Allied, Atlas, Arpin. Once you request an estimate, they will come to your home, look at your belongings, discuss your needs (full pack/partial pack) and give you an estimate. There is no way to accurately provide pricing on a move of your size without seeing what you have so if someone is telling you that they can give you an estimate without coming to your home, this should be a major red flag for you.
The best way to reduce pricing on a full-service move is to minimize your weight. So, we always advise that people hold garage sales or donate items to charity to reduce the load. You can also pack yourself, or partially pack yourself to lower cost. I move recently and packed about half of my stuff, leaving the fragile pieces to the experts.
