Hardwood floor funny to walk on. Is this a serious issue?
Question : Hardwood floor funny to walk on. Is this a serious issue?
I felt this after I moved in my new construction home at several places, but just didn’t think much. Now I realize that the wood is not firmly attached to the subfloor/base. I can easily hear the sound difference when I tap the floor. Is this called sapping, buckling, or …? Should this be fixed? How difficult is the repair? The builder warranty should be there for the fix?

only if you are clumsy
A Lot of people don’t know this but wood framed homes shrink. New homes usually have wood that has recently been cut and still contains a lot of moisture. As the moisture leaves the wood it shrinks. It takes years for the wood frame to dry up and settle, including sub floors. This some times causes drywall nails to pop out in new homes sometimes. your home might simply be experiencing the expansion and contraction of your new home. This is why they have made floating laminate wood flooring and hard wood flooring now a days, they now have a better understanding of this expansion and contraction in wood.
