Question : Why there is such a big difference among the international moving estimates?
We’re going to move from AZ to Asia in 2 weeks, and I posted to ask for estimates locally and nationwide. And I noticed that the estimates coming from the east coast companies have less price than here locally from $ 500 to $ 1000 of difference. Why is that? is there anything or trick i should be careful when i ask for estimates? And I was worried that since they’re at East coat and didn’t do a visual estimate, adn they gave me really good price, on the day of move when they show up, they’d say something like oh it’s more than what we expected, so the price will go up…. Does anybody have any experience that can be shared w/? Thanks a ton!!

They give you an estimate on the content volume and that is why there is a difference.
Each agent gets a different volume.
the problem is that at the end you pay per what you used and not the estimate and that is based on the price you get per SQM.
The way they calculate the final SQM is based on the percentage of space you took in the container even if part of the space is empty.
The packers are a crucial team and if you can get them to pack the container at your door step and you got enough room for them to arrange the packages correctly they might be able to do a very good job.
You can take a full container and then you know the price up to the other port. you need to remember that some countries might have processes that you need to pay for so it is not the full price of the container door to door.
try to get some more information on the carrier and the packers.
One of the most important things is that the packers need to be very professional in packing your container and the container needs to be in great shape.
Reviews of the company form people using them in the past is also a good idea.
We went with a company who were not the cheapest but not the most expensive and we heard raving reviews over them from people.
