New Jersey Vehicle Registration Help?
Question : New Jersey Vehicle Registration Help?
I am active duty military and I am currently stationed in New Jersey. I was stationed in Louisiana for the past two years. Both of my cars are registered there. Both my wife (who is a civilian) and I have a California drivers license (this is my home of record and where I consider myself a resident of). We have New Jersey car insurance. Do I HAVE to register my cars here even though we are not residents?

Most states make exceptions for military personnel. Ask your CO what you need to do.
Actice Duty Military personnel who have a state other than NJ as their legal residence, are NOT required to register their vehicles in NJ.
However, you may wish to plate the vehicle in NJ while carrying a CA drivers license.
(All of us civilians are required to have registrations and D-L only in our state of residence.)
Always carry your Military ID, as proof.
Thank you for your service to our country. God Bless You and keep you safe.
