From the supplier: Property and casualty insurance criticized the state of California’s proposed California Earthquake Authority (CEA), which recently was enacted into law. The CEA would offer .5 billion in earthquake insurance coverage and would cap the liabilities of private insurers at billion. In a letter to California Senate Insurance Committee Chmn Herschel Rosenthal, the industry claimed that last-minute legislative changes broadened insurers’ liability and expanded the authority of the state to intervene in the insurance market.
