Any tips, tricks, or advice on using a full-service moving company?
Question : Any tips, tricks, or advice on using a full-service moving company?
I’ve never done full-service before, and could use any advice or suggestions I can get at all!
Maybe on how to choose one, or what to/no to do , or just some plain ol good ideas. Thanx!!

I wonder, is there certain stuff you do/not do after you choose someone? Seperate stuff etc?

We used Bekins to move eight years ago, and had a wonderful experience with them. The day before our move day, a crew came with all the supplies (all types of boxes, wrap supplies and labels). We went room by room and put everything in boxes, labeled where they were from and so on. A small ID decal was placed on the larger items, because we knew it would all be going into storage for a few weeks before going into the new home. Because this is a daily thing for them, an arduous task was made into a pleasant experience. I recommend going with a “reputable” company. You could see that all the employees had been with the company for a while, they all knew exactly what to do. There are several companies like this, that you can consider.

They are pretty much all horrible. I’ve used them many times and stuff always arrives broken, unless you’re just moving across town.
They have one guy who drives the van and kinda knows what he’s doing. Then they stop on the way and hire day help from God knows where (under the bridge, I’m convinced) who drop your stuff, put the heavy stuff on top of the fragile stuff, etc. Last time, they DROPPED the grand piano and took a chunk out of the right front corner!
When I filed the claim for damage, I had not purchased the OPTIONAL insurance, so my items were insured for 60 cents a pound. The reimbursement for the damaged piano came to about $ 48.00.

Never accept the “afternoon” service. They always do the morning job and don’t come to your house until that is done. Which means that the morning job is going to be 5 hours late every time..
