removing cigarette from books and apartment?
Question : removing cigarette from books and apartment?
Im moving into my uncle’s old apartment, he moved out of it. More than 30 years of all day indoor smoking has gone on inside.
How do I remove cigarette SMELL and stain damage from:
rugs
books
furniture
walls
blankets
air
it basically infiltrates everything, should I just throw everything away? I really want to keep the book collection and furniture. The couch is probably hopeless since I cant open it up obviously. How Do i clean the books and walls?

Hire a disaster recovery company or rent an ozone generator when you will be away for a day or two. (This is what hotels do to “de-smoke” a room).
Then do a thorough cleaning with an alkaline cleaner. There will be a film of tar and soot over everything.
I worked in wordrobe in a theatre once and we used vodka on all the costumes to get out sweat odor…just put it in a spray bottle. i know it sounds gross and weird but it works! My husbad smoked in our house before i moved in and we used vodka but it will take a while for it to completely go away…open the windows as often as possible.
