Northern Lights stage lighting effect
stage lights dance studio
edited video from the Minnesota Ballet’s production of Northern Lights, choreographed by Robert Gardner. Lighting Design by Kenneth Pogin The Northern Lights effect was created by hanging strips of thin painters plastic behind a scrim. Then 28 LED Par units were hung behind the painters plastic. Crew was positioned with box fans between the scrim and a cyc to move the plastic around and to keep the plastic from sticking to either the scrim or cyc. The plastic has terrible static cling! Effect programing done on a laptop, making the light dance among the LED units, with the fans making the plastic dance within the light.
