American Airlines: simply one of WORST airlines?
Question : American Airlines: simply one of WORST airlines?
I took a 10hr flight into DFW on American Airlines on Tuesday. After arriving there I found out my connecting flight got canceled. I stood in a mile long line for about 3 hours to rebook my flight. The best they could do was put me on a flight on Wednesday. The lady tells me they can’t provide any hotel room because they are all full. I spent the night at the airport without my luggage because they were checked. Wednesday comes and guess what, that flight got canceled again. So, I have to stand in line again to see what is going on. They say the best they can do is put me on another flight that leaves on Thursday?! So, two days later I am still in Dallas booked for a flight that I am unsure will take off.
American Airlines never again will I fly with you. They knew they needed to complete these inspections since 2006! They had plenty of time to get their act together. The FAA and the Airlines are in a cat-fight, and the customers are left stranded hundreds of miles away from home..

BOYCOTT THE AIRLINE (:
I’ve been a flight attendant with American Airlines for 24 years. I want you and the rest of the public to know what the airline is REALLY up to.
American has been making money for the last two years. One of the reasons why American is making money is they took huge salary concessions from their union employees. The flight attendants took a 30% pay cut, on top of that we work longer hours, have shorter layovers (time to sleep at night between being on duty) in some cases the crew is working on less than 6 hours of sleep after and prior to a 12 -14 hour duty day. During all the recent flight disruptions a large number of flight attendants have lost pay because of cancelled flights. (American has told the crew members that they will not pay them for the lost time that they will need to take VACATION days for the flight hours missed during the re-inspections) In other words, the airplane doesn’t go, the crew doesn’t get paid. But, here’s the sickening part, over the last 2 years the top 800 people in management have taken multi-million dollar bonuses because the airline is doing well in a depressed market. They have taken pay from the rest of us and put it in their pockets. Next time you get on a flight and have to pay for your meal, can’t find a pillow or blanket or leave the gate late due to maintenance issues, please keep all of this in mind. But also keep in mind that it is NOT the fault of the flight attendants, we are JUST as frustrated as you are, trust me.
Most of the employees are all too keenly aware that what American is doing now is causing so much disruption to their flight schedule that they lose vast amounts of money. Then when it comes time to sit down at the negotiation table they will ‘sing the blues’, whaaa fuel prices are too high, whaaa too much competition, whaaa the weather has been bad, whaaa the big bad FAA is making us comply by their airworthiness directives. But, in the midst of all of it they will pad their pockets with big (millions) bonus checks. You know how much we get? A whopping $ 50 per quarter, to make up for the 30% pay cut.
I, and all my co-workers, understand what you’re going through, we completely agree with you and wish our airline would stand up and take responsibility for this debacle. We wish we could help you, we are not your enemy. But we ask that you please consider that we are compromised by this situation too and don’t be angry with us.
