Question : Can HOA ask for Driver License copies in Texas?
Our HOA got a new treasurer that moved from Chicago a couple of years ago. Before her, our HOA previous president was said to have stolen over 13000 from HOA. Well this treasurer is enforcing parking since it has become an issue. She is asking all home owners for sensitive information such as Driver’s license info and copies of registration and inspection and insurance. My concern is that my brother’s identity was stolen a couple of years ago and we guard our personal information. We do not know anything about her and I have no problem showing her my DL, just not the copies. Are they supposed to store it in a locked place? What if a person breaks into her home and steals it? What can we do to make her stop harrassing the tenants?

I don’t think this sounds legit, there is no law that says you have to give this info. Also, I wouldn’t think that your HOA covenants state that you have to submit this info. I wouldn’t give the info and see what happens.
