Sarasota Firefighters climb 344 flights of stairs in remembrance of the 343 firefighters who lost their lives in 9/11 and a fellow firefighter in Sarasota lost exactly a year earlier. Residents and staff of Plymouth Harbor on Sarasota Bay pay tribute to our local firefighters on 9/11/09. The retirement community’s Tower building is regularly used by the local firefighters as a way of training and building physical endurance, especially as the new Sarasota Fire Chief focuses on overall fitness for his department.
