Question : I’ve taken some airborne mold samples using store bought kits. How do I know what I have?
I have some pink stuff and a couple colonies of black. I even have one brown colony on a control sample. Is there any website that would give some guidance about this? I’d rather not pay $ 30 per sample until I’ve narrowed down that possible kinds.

U have MOLD Why !!!!
I hate to disappoint you, but you need to have a lab determine what you have. There are so many different kinds its not funny. Somewhere in the million I believe.
Contrary to popular belief, black mold is not necessarily dangerous per say. The colors of pink, orange, and so on are more concerning to me.
Get them ALL tested.
I’m not sure where you are, but in MI the insurance companies have written mold remediation out of their policy coverage so you’d be on your own unless you got a rider.
PLEASE don’t try to remove it yourself unless you research and prepare for it, one exposure CAN damage your lungs permanently depending on the classification of mold. Make sure you check with your local building/health department to get referals of good contractors for remediation.
I’ve provided a link so you can get some visual ideas of the different kinds of mold. Like I said before, you MUST test to determine the type of mold you have, it’s well worth the $ 100 or so to get some peace of mind.
If you have toxic mold, run. Get everyone out IMMEDIATELY. Rent if you have to. Talk to an environmental sciences doctor to determine your next steps.
I’m not sure where you live so check with your hospital.
If you are a low income qualifier you can check with your local building/health department about programs available to you. Please check with them. You’d be suprised what you can receive from them, but you have to ASK.
