Should I move to las vegas from huntington beach?
Question : Should I move to las vegas from huntington beach?
I’m 25 and was offered a job promotion relocation to vegas for more money. It’s in commercial insurance for auto dealers. I don’t know a soul in the state and am a little leery. any thoughts???

Cars aren’t selling here in this economy. But I suppose they aren’t selling anywhere. It’s a good place to live and work. No state or city income tax and the housing prices have dropped drastically. Food prices are great. Electricity is very expensive here.
The people here pretty much stay to themselves. It’s not that they are rude but you won’t know your neighbors like in most places. People come home from work and go right into their house. All yards are walled in to separate properties. Most properties are HOAs and have walls around the entire complex so when you walk on the sidewalk all you see are walls. You almost have to make of point of making friends.

Don’t move to Vegas. I moved there in Feb 2005 and hated it….I stayed for 3 1/2 years (only because of my job) and moved back in November…..
Stay in HB!! Vegas is nice to visit but not worth it to move there.
It costs nearly as much to live there as it does here in SoCal. The jobs do not pay very well there for the prices of homes/apartments. It is beyond overcrowded and it’s just ehhh…..just don’t do it – the best advice!

At 25 there’s plenty to do in Vegas. You didn’t mention your status – married, single, etc. But either way there’s lots to do here and it’s still close enough to LA and San Diego and such to go other places.
A promotion and more money is always good, right?, and the fact that you were offered a promotion to come to Vegas from LA County is interesting. I moved to Vegas from LA and the salaries are lower here.
The good thing was my family was still close in LA so we drove down to LA often to visit.
Housing is rock bottom low right now and gas is hovering around $ 1.60/gallon – finally.
So it might be worth it to take the promotion – also consider speaking with your boss in Huntington Beach in regards to if the situation in Vegas isn’t what you/they thought, can you come back to your job there.
In my opinion Vegas seems to be divided under two main management systems – Mormon and Mafia – just food for thought. There’s an LDS church practically on every corner, so if you’re Mormon you will not have a problem finding a church. There’s plenty of other churches here too. And, you may find, just like most of us, the “Strip” loses it’s appeal after you actually live here for somewhere between three and six months. So we usually start going to the local spots/casinos to eat, go to movies, etc.
Oh and the only other possibly annoying thing is when friends and family come in to town they usually always want to stay with you – it’s up to you, but there’s some pretty good deals on hotel rooms right now because of the “recession” (hint hint).

Dude… I have lived in Vegas for 16 years and I grew up in La Habra so I know what I am talking about,,,k? Stay in HB. This is a lousy place to live compared to where you live now.
