Question : I have dark blue walls and black leather couches. what other colors do you suggest for my living room?
i have light blue transparent curtains. its in the first stages of decorating so any suggestions would be helpful.

It depends on which direction you might want to go. If you’re looking for a more subdued and relaxed look try a shade of gray or charcoal. If you’re looking at brightening things ups try an pale orange (so as not to seem too Halloween-y with your black couches)

I like the idea of crisp, white pillows, with different colors of blue in different designs. Geometric, voille, floral…mix and match for an eclectic look, or if you’re more of a uniform person, just use one design, but definitely play up different shades of blue on the white. You’ll get that “pop” effect all the designers talk about.

These are the same living room colors I have in my house. I lean towards strong color saturated decor, so I have bronze pillows, purples and deep terra cotta colored accent pieces that have a blue base to their color. I used cream, not white for balance. I found brushed silver (not shiny) lamps that look fabulous. I also bought some inexpensive cream colored sheers and alternate the curtain panels with dark blue and bronze sheers. I found a great flat, queen sized sheet that brought in all the colors and used it as a valance for the sheers. The curtains pulled everything together and the room looks amazing!
I stayed away from pure white and red (which are my kitchen colors) because they both made my l.r. look too Fourth of July-ish against the blue walls.
