2007 Chrysler Pacifica TCM or EATX?
Question : 2007 Chrysler Pacifica TCM or EATX?
I have a 2007 Chrysler Pacifica Limited AWD that has recently went into “limp home mode” Key Chrysler in Xenia, Ohio is telling me that it’s the EATX Relay. I bought this vehicle a year ago used with 30K miles. I purchased the 8 year / 80K mile dealer cert warranty thinking it would cover such things as a EATX relay but i’ve been informed that it in fact doesn’t. From web research i’m starting to believe it could be just corroded wires or bad connections. The dealer informs me that the part cost over $ 300 and takes 3.5 hours to install, I personally call BULLSH_T!! Any help here would be great. Thanks, Troy
Mike J, thanks for the reply. I’m going tomorrow to meet with the dealership and the tech. I find out then exactly what it’s going to cost but regardless with the “Chrysler Certified Warranty” that i paid for it should be covered.

Where is the NGC located on a 2007 Pacifica Limited AWD? Or the TCM/EATX is so equipped??

Your vehicle has an NGC powertrain control module. You don’t have a separate TCM/EATX controller. What did they say that the code was? I highly doubt that the relay is bad. I have over ten years exp. working on chrysler trans systems and I have never had the relay go out. All of the wirning fail in different locations but never the relay itself. I find it hard to believe you will get charged 3.5 hrs just to diag the relay. And a relay only costs 20.00. What did they quote you exactly verbatim? I might be able to help.

If it’s simply the trans control relay, it shouldn’t be anywhere near a $ 300 repair and will take merely seconds to change, the relay itself should be about $ 15 and is in the fuse/relay block under the hood. Labor should be minimal, plus a diagnostic fee, figure $ 150 at the absolute worst for just a relay.
If it is just the relay, then you can change it yourself easy enough. The fuse/relay block under the hood will have a chart showing where each relay is located. Buy a new relay for around $ 15 and see if it fixes it.
Most any other part, it should be covered by most extended drive-train warranty or service contracts.
What kind of extended service contract was it and from what company? (I ask since in your question it says “dealer cert warranty”, and not Chrysler Extended Warranty, or Chrysler Certified Warranty.)
If it’s a Chrysler extended warranty, you can go to http://www.chrysler.com/en/service_contracts/ and you can enter your vehicle information (on left side of screen) to see what your coverage is.
The trans should be considered a front wheel drive (even though your vehicle is AWD), so they may be trying to get out of it by saying those aren’t listed under AWD/4WD covered parts, but that list is only for components relating to that part of the drive-train. They should be looking at parts covered under FWD transmissions.
If all else fails, find another Chrysler or Dodge dealer to take it to for repairs. Any Chrysler or Dodge dealer can do repairs under a Chrysler Extended warranty.

The Chrysler Extended Warranty has several different levels from Powertrain Care, to Maximum Care packages. Maximum care will cover nearly everything, including regular maintenance. The Powertrain covers engine, transmission, and AWD components.Find out exactly what part it is needing and see if it’s a covered part from the dealership service center.
You should have gotten a coverage package showing what is covered by your plan, if you didn’t get it or can’t find it, you can go to the website, or call them at 1-800-521-9922 and they can tell you what is covered, and can send out a new warranty coverage package to you.
You can also call them to ask if a specific part is covered, and complain about the dealership claiming it isn’t covered if it is indeed a covered part. The dealership has to honor the Chrysler Extended Warranty as part of their franchise agreement.

chrysler pcms like the ngc controller have a 8 year 80000 mile emissions warranty so if the pcm is bad they will replace it for free. sounds like they are trying to pull one over on you. i work at a dodge dealership and it ticks me off when i hear them trying to pull one like this. i would find another dealer. i would find out what the in service date of the care is it might be still under the 3 year 36000 mile warranty. good luck
