Who is a good chimney inspection company?
Question : Who is a good chimney inspection company?
I have a 20 year old home with a fireplace that has never been used. Would like to use it but advice is to get it inspected first. I don’t know where to start to find someone to do this. What kind of company would do this and do you have any specific recommendations?
PS I live in Maryland.

If it’s a wood fireplace call a chimney sweep. if it’s got a gas insert or gas logs then any heating company will do,
if its never been used and you can access the top from a ladder. go to the hardware and buy a chimney brush to fit your flue and a set of screw together handles. run the brush down from the top to make sure there are no obstructions. since its never been used creosote wont be a problem. you just want to be sure nothing has taken up residence in there…otherwise call a chimney sweep…but you can save a lot of money over the years by cleaning your own flues…
