Question : Rental Car Company Needed that doesnt require Credit Card?
I am looking for a cheap rental car service that will rent to me without a credit card. I have kind of bad credit, but a perfect driving record, and I am over 30 so I will be less of a hazard. I need the company to have a office in Chicago, IL at either Midway or O’hare, it doesn’t matter which since I am flying standby. Car class doesn’t matter as long as it will run for the week I need it.
When you use a debit card does the credit check negatively affect your credit? I know sometimes credit checks though other places do and I am planning to move soon and hate to hurt my credit any more than it has been already.

All car rentals require a credit card, a debit card also works. jb
It depends on the company.
Some companies will, but will put a ridiculously large hold on your card while you have the rental that may tie up your funds on your card until you return the vehicle.
Some companies will accept a debit card, but still may perform a credit check as well, and if your credit score is low, deny you from renting.
The one I work for will only take a debit card if you have return trip information (you need to have gotten off of a plane, train, or ship before you arrive at the rental counter, and you need to be getting back on that plane, train, or ship when you return the vehicle.) If you can provide the confirmation number for this information, which is usually on your ticket, we will accept your debit card. We will charge your card the full amount of the rental at the time you pick up the car, without doing a credit check.
