Question : How much deposit and payment percentage for kitchen remodel?
What percent to order and install a kitchen remodel. My contractor wants 50 percent to order and 40 when install begins and 10 at completion. Is that about right for licensed and insured contractor in Florida?

I would not do any business with anyone under these terms. I would offer to immediately pay for delivered materials and to quickly pay for completed work. If you pay ahead he has NO INCENTIVE TO DO ANYTHING EVER. He will already have his profit and can make more money doing nothing than finishing the job.
I am a kitchen designer in Boston. Our installers are all fully licensed and insured . If we are selling you cabinets and our guys are doing the install, we charge 30% the day you order, 30% the day your cabinets are delivered, 30% the day your countertops are templated or delivered and 10% whe nthe whole project is complete.
I think that’s an extremely fair deal. I got my start as a designer at Home Depot. When I worked there, they took 100% the day you ordered. Now THAT”S scary…
