How could there be no residential building codes in southern Missouri?
Question : How could there be no residential building codes in southern Missouri?
We bought and closed on a new house and there was no final grade done, we have a negative water flow, they did not finish some things in our house like caulking and it ruined our floors, we did do a punch list 5 months ago and these things were not done and I found out that there are no codes to build by, anyone can build a house here, our foundation will eventually be ruined, but without a home inspection how did I get financed? Shouldn’t my morgage company know about this or insurance company?

I guess that’s Missouri for you.
There are plenty of other states that have NO Building code enforcement in rural areas. The truth of the matter is YOU hired an unqualified contractor to build your home. I would contact your mortgage company, an attorney, and start legal action. Did you at least hold back a 10% retention for the first 12 months? This is a common practice in the industry to insure that warranty issues are resolved in a timely manner. Buyer beware. Codes are not an issue with a “CROOKED CONTRACTOR”.
