Quite possible.
Check your policy.
Heck, I had trouble getting insurance because I had 10 Basset Hounds. Not considered a “dangerous” breed.

A simple answer, yes. Depending, the insurance company could cancel the policy and refuse to insure, or greatly increase the premiums to cover possible losses.
Understand that many factors can increase insurance cost or cause it to be canceled. When I lived in the mountains, there was talk of closing the small fire station in our community. Being many miles further from a station would have greatly increased our rates and caused some companies to refuse to write new business in our area.
EDIT: For DMG, just hope none of your pits hurt or injure a neighbor’s child or dog. Guess what? the insurance company won’t pay. They aren’t stupid ya know

I don’t know why it would. Some insurance agents get squirrely if you say you own a dog with a reputation for aggression (ie: pit bull, rottweiler, doberman, etc.). We just don’t volunteer the information…when asked about our dog(s), we say the pit bull/rottweiler mix is a “mixed breed”. If they ask what breeds…we don’t know. I told our agent about the pure bred GSD and he didn’t have a problem with it. But…as soon as they hear the would pit and bull in the same sentence, they go ape sh*t.

I don’t think you will have a problm with an American Bulldog. They don’t usually make the list of “dangerous breeds”
But this dog issue is becoming a huge issue around the country.

My suggestion – do a search Goggle for “Vicious Dog Breeds” and “Insurance”.
If your dog is not on the list, you should be in good shape.
