can a contractor be sued after your warranty has expired due to shoddy work?
Question : can a contractor be sued after your warranty has expired due to shoddy work?
My home was remodeled in 2008 and my warranty expired in 2009. The contractors hired were the contractors from hell during the entire year of remodeling they triggered complications that had to be corrected from bad plumbing, bad masonry, to us even finding out after one of their workers were fired they never obtained permits from the buildings department to perform the work. My last resort was to report them to the department of consumer affairs, to which my complaints where addressed and a punch list was generated to have the poor work corrected. Can someone tell me if I can still sue these clowns because things still are going wrong with their shoddy work. thank you in advance.

Well, you can’t sue them for breach of warranty–you let the time expire. GIven that fact, you might want to be careful with the “clown” epithet.
If it is that bad a job then why have you left it so long?
If you have paid all the money, then basically you have accepted the work.
But,you can always try to sue a contractor, however, the 2 points above would suggest to me that you may have a bit of a challenge on your hands.
Even if you won,the possibility is that the contractor will cease trading before he is forced to pay any money, you have then lost more money.
Any decent builder would not need to be sued, they would correct any work without needing to be asked.
