Question : Has anyone had experience renting/moving with Pod? How does the cost compare to a moving company? Thanks?
I have had relatives who have utilized movers, and those who have moved themselves. We are considering moving from Michigan to Arizona. I appreciate your time. Thanks

I had clients who moved to TX from CA and used Pods. I think they liked it and it worked out well for them.

They had 3 Pods, I think (definitely 2) and were able to unload one, but kept the other in storage for several months until they were able to settle into their new *permanent* home.

So, if that is a possibility for you, it seems that packing wisely is critical.

I recently moved with a do it yourself company called ABF U-Pack Moving. I came across them while looking for a cheap way to move after I got a quote from PODS. Yikes! But they have pods too or you can move on a trailer and store your stuff. It worked out really well and I would use them again. Their site is http://www.upack.com. I’ve heard good things about PODS if you can afford them but I think I got the same thing with U-Pack for much cheaper. I’ve had friends who used PODs and they liked it. But it never hurts to price out both moving companies and PODs to see how they compare. and be sure to value your time in the equation of moving yourself — can you spend that time more fruitfully doing something else?

movingscam and relocation.com are both good sites to read about and check out moving companies and relocation in general. also, if you do end up moving from michigan to arizona in the winter, keep in mind the temp change and the havoc that could wreak on your stuff.

I have used moving pods before and they were great. We usually do it ourselves (rent storage and then throw everything in our cars) but this last move decided to try out moving pods using Door to Door. The cost in general was lower but I think that will really depend on how much stuff you have. You may have a couple options for which companies to use in Michigan so I’d simply go ahead and get quotes from a couple of them. You can also check out movingscam.com for reviews on specific moving companies. Overall though, using moving pods was a very good experience. They give you some control over packing yet you don’t have to deal with all the driving and extra costs associated with that.
