Question : Retirement homes…?
What type of degree is required to become an Activities Director or Events Planner in a retirement home setting? I am getting my BS in Business with a Certificate in Gerontology (study of aging). Do you think that degree will work for that type of job? What other jobs in this field would be available to me with that degree?

In this state, an Activity Director must get a certificate in a course which is given at several community colleges and is of relatively short duration. It seems also that I remember if you have 2 years experience working with the elderly you are also qualified. With your degree, you could actually be an administrator of an assisted living facility which also requires a certificate which consists of attending a three day course on all different aspects of assisted living.
