The home warranty companies cover aspects of your home, like plumbing and electrical systems that your homeowners insurance may otherwise not cover. One of the best benefits, is their coverage of HVAC systems in older homes and this coverage usually will allow a faulty unit to be upgraded to the latest technology required by Federal regulations. I am not a proponent of these warranties past year one, but in Year one, after you have spent a ton of your cash on closing costs and furniture, the last thing you want to have to spend money on is an appliance or AC unit that has gone bad because the last owner did not take care of items.
