Who is lying: Obama or the former Inspector General?? (IG says he acted properly)?
Question : Who is lying: Obama or the former Inspector General?? (IG says he acted properly)?
Obama co-sponsored a bill titled the Inspector General Reform Act of 2007 (S. 2324). The point of this bill was to stop a president from firing an Inspector General without a very good reason as well as notifying the Congress 30 days in advance. According to some in the Senate, Obama provided no good reasons. (other than he had “lost confidence” in him…why??)

An inspector general fired by President Barack Obama says he acted “with the highest integrity” in investigating AmeriCorps and other government-funded national service programs.
Gerald Walpin’s job was to review grants awarded by AmeriCorps and its parent agency, the Corporation for National and Community Service. He told The Associated Press he has no doubt he acted properly in investigating Sacramento mayor and former NBA star Kevin Johnson.
Obama told Congress on Thursday he had lost confidence in Walpin.
As a result of Walpin’s investigation, Johnson and the nonprofit St. HOPE Academy that he headed were ordered to repay about half of nearly $ 847,000 in federal grants they had received from AmeriCorps. Johnson is a political supporter of Obama.

Specifically, the legislation will require that:
- Congress is notified of any proposed removal of an IG, along with the reasons for the removal, in writing with 30-days notice.
- All IGs must receive their own legal counsel or have access to the services of legal counsel of another Inspector General. This will allow them to avoid using agency counsels.
- A Council on Integrity and Efficiency for Inspectors General must be established. Within the Council, an Integrity Committee must be created to receive, review, and refer for investigation allegations of wrongdoing that are made against Inspectors General or certain other staff members.
- All IG websites are directly accessible from the home page of agency web sites. All IG reports must be posted on agency websites within 3 working days of their release.
- The president’s budget submission must state how much money is being requested for each IG office, as well as the funding level the IG requested for the office. This will allow Congress to identify whether agencies are trying to interfere with the work of an IG office by cutting funding.
- No IG may accept a bonus.
- Presidentially appointed IGs must be paid at Level III of the Executive Schedule, plus three percent, and other IGs must receive compensation comparable to other senior level executives in the department. This is aimed at preventing agencies from discouraging qualified candidates by lowering pay.
Senators Daniel Akaka (D-HI), Barack Obama (D-IL), Hillary Clinton (D-NY), Tom Carper (D-DE) and Ted Stevens (R-AK) are co-sponsors of the legislation. Similar legislation introduced by Congressman Jim Cooper (D-TN) in the House of Representatives received overwhelming bipartisan approval with a vote of 404-11.

This entire situation is simply appalling. The only reason Obama fired him is because Johnson is a friend of Obama’s. He got caught cheating with our money and it is the IG’s job to sort out corruption. Obviously Obama likes corruption.
The President is so entrenched with his buddies he uses his powers to destroy peoples lives and our country.
Everyone should be outraged at this and call their Congress people and let them know they must hold Obama responsible for this blatant corruption in our government. -

If the man is innocent of any wrong doing he can sue for wrongful termination. Obama was not alone in this decision:
“Alan Solomont, a Democrat and the board chairman of the government-run corporation, and Stephen Goldsmith, a Republican and the board’s vice chair, said they strongly endorsed Obama’s decision.”

So he followed the guildlines now under the law? And this bothers you?
I wonder though, if the job is the kind where the President, whomever he may be gets to put his own man in when he takes office?
Like the AG, when a president. especially of the opposite party takes over, they bring their own men in, which was why when Bush fired his own appointees it looked so odd.
When a new president comes in its like a new broom, in fact, many holdovers even hand in their resignations and wait for the new man to accept them or decline them.Walpin was a Bush appointee.

Obama.
Unfortunately a whole lot of folks who excused and continue to deny the lies of Bush will now act like they value integrity at all and in turn many well meaning but misdirected Obama supporters will feel they have to defend Barack and take his side.
The rest of us will probably not be heard in the crossfire and that’s exactly the way they like it

It boils down to this: The misuse of money that the IG found were real. He was fired illegally without the 30 day review that was just made a law only last year….and obama was one of the senators on the bill that made this law.
What other reason to run someone off the job unless they were getting close.
If Obama gets any tricks from the Clintons, it would not surprise me if this IG guy commits “suicide” in the next week.

The circumstances of the firing make me think that the IG was onto something big. There was no valid reason given for the firing (general statements don’t count) and it certainly didn’t include 30 days notice.
I wonder if the general public will ever wake up to the enormous levels of corruption in this administration. This goes well beyond the level of corruption back during Nixon. It’s like a Chicago mob is running the government now. Rules and laws and meaningless and ignored.

Obama. The goal of this termination is to eliminate ALL inspector Generals. When they do, they will all be destroyed as being “confused and disoriented.” Just as they are doing to Walpin.
