It will usually be cheaper to buy bundled. Find a homeowners insurance carrier with quake coverage. Here is a good directory to start: http://www.insuremyhouse.com

“Like a good neighbour, State Farm is there”. All property insurance carriers would be very happy to oblige you. Get it bundled with your home insurance. Try State Farm; they are about the cheapest but if you have your home insurance with another company, ask them about your earthquake insurance. Thank you for your question.

Ask your present policy holder to include this in your coverage. If you don’t have a current policy check your area for who gives coverage for natural disasters and select from the options available. You would most likely get homeowners coverage from the same carrier it would come as a package deal.

each state in the U.S. has different laws regarding those types of insurance. Your best bet is to contact an independant insurance broker that can give you all your options. They don’t work for one specific company, and so they tend not to be bias.
Just a thought also try different websites of companies, and your local government page, they might have info there.
maybe this helps

The best thing to do is to contact several Independent agencies. They have access to a number of companies (carriers) who may have different types of policies. There is several companies who are now offering stand-alone earthquake policies which are less expensive than buying with your homeowner’s carrier. You will still need to maintain your homeowners policy, but you’ll save money. Your agent will be able to locate carriers which are licensed & admitted in your state.

basically nowhere. consider this…an earthquake deductible is quoted as a percentage of your homeowner’s replacement cost. For example, if your replacement cost is $ 300,000, your deductible (based on area and area risk) is somewhere between 5% and 20%. Therefore, your deductible is $ 15K to $ 60K…Do you call that coverage? No for my dough. If you are in a high risk area, the deductible and premium simply increase making it even harder to collect.
If you buy earthquake, it is typically a rider on your home owner’s package policy as an add on. Best of luck!

This site allows you to get quotes for free. Insurance cost a lot so may as well save pennies where you can. I have also listed another site to help you find out which companies are good and which ones to avoid. Remember, always read the fine print and ask as many questions as you want. There is no such thing as a stupid question.. The stupid thing to do would be to not ask. . .

I believe that any corporate insurance company in San Francisco probably would have the most extensive coverage. For outside the USA, I would say that Japan is likely the country most experienced in dealing with earthquakes. Most insurance companies don’t cover ‘acts of God,’ so good luck with your search! : )

Ive just found out from an article that you do not automatically get earthquake insurance.
Possibly the most important thing to know about earthquake insurance is this: A basic homeowners policy does not cover earthquake damage. Even if you don’t live in an area where earthquakes are common, it’s possible you might need earthquake insurance. -

Who do you have your property insurance with. That would be the first place I would go. Usually it is added as a rider to a property policy. If you don’t currently have homeowners insurance, you’ll probably have to purchase that at the same time. Shop around different independent agencies in your area. They have access to different companies.
Be aware, a number of companies are stopping offering earthquake coverage because of the number of natural disasters lately. They want the federal government to come out with national disaster insurance like they have for floods.
