Question : When staging a house for showing, do you leave the items in the home?
My husband and I are getting ready to list our house for sale, and are getting it ready to stage. Before I buy items for the house (like artwork, plants, candles, etc.), I was needing to know if these items are expected to stay with the house or will we be able to take them with us? Also, any ideas for staging the house would be quite helpful. We have already decluttered everything, taking down all personal pictures, magnets, etc. We have painted everything neutral and cleaned it up inside and out.

Only fixtures are standardly expected to be included with the price of the house…i.e. hanging lamps, curtain rods (attached to the walls), built-in bookcases, etc. Decorative hanging items are your personal property, but could be negotiated for in the offer/counteroffer
Buyers and sellers can agree to whatever they like in terms of what stays with the house when the sellers leave, but usually only anything permanently fastened to the walls such as light fixtures will stay, as well as major appliances. When the house is being shown, have some fresh flowers or small potted plants in some rooms.
