Question : My mother is in hospice, I’ve had to quit my job, can I get paid to take care of her?
I live in Illinois, and my mother recently came into our home through hospice due to the advanced stage of cancer she has. I was wondering if there was any compensation through the state or other agency that will help pay me or my bills since I’ve had to take a long leave from work. Thanks!

That is such a sad situation and I’m so sorry for this. If I were in your position, you should call Social Security. How old is your mother? If she has end stage cancer, she should already be on disability which will help pay her medical bills. On disability, you automatically get on Medicare part A but you have to pay for part B and that’s the part that pays for her medications. Unless you are approved by Hospice to care for your mom, you won’t get paid. If you get approved, then you would be considered an employee of Hospice and you could get paid to care for her. I don’t see that happening since she already has Hospice. I don’t know how your state runs as far as supporting you while caring for your mom. Like I said, if it was my mom and I was at that point at one time, I would try every state run organization to get help. You pay taxes, there should be help out there for you. I hope someone can help you. I’m sorry about your mom. God bless both of you.

Question : Is this considered statutory rape if I…?
Now that I got you to look I need some help. I recently left my parents house to live on my own and it’s been difficult. You see they recently split up after my father (he used to be a lawyer but after he got disabled from a car crash he had to retire) found out my mother (she’s an all-female boxing coach) had been cheating on him for years with several women from her job they got divorced. I had to take care of my Pep pep (he has Parkinson’s and cant live by himself so he lived with us) for a few weeks while my father looked around for a new place to live and a handicap accessible job. He found a position as a proffessor at a community college and found a flat a few miles away from my new house. My mother kept the house and most of the furniture from the divorce and has been living with several of her “friends” since. My problem is I can’t even look at my mother for what she did to my father and she want’s me to move back in and help around the house because she sprained her pelvic bone while getting off the mat from boxing. We found my pep pep a nice retirement home to live in that I’m paying for and if I move back in with my mother this will put me at risk of losing my job as a software engineer for a banking company because it’s already far from where I live but if I move back in I’ll have to drive an extra 30 min to work everyday and I need this job espeacially in this economy. I also have developed an early onset of Parkinson’s Disease and it’s hard for me to move around without worrying as it is. I dont know what I should do. My dad told me to do it and I cant talk to my pep pep because he hates my mom so I dont know who else to turn to. Please answer serously. I really need help and it’s hard enough to type as it is without worrying about people mocking me or making fun of my situation. Don’t call me a “troll” either. I find it extremly offensive espeacilly because have Parkinson’s Disease and I thnk it’s disgusting racist people call people with medical conditions they cant help “trolls”.

Depends on how old you are. But from the sound of it I would not move in. Your mom is living with from “friends” who can look after her, but you shouldn’t sacrifice the life you’ve made for yourself for someone whom you cannot trust right now. Your mom hurt you and you have a right to be seriously upset about it. Make sure she’s O.K. with her pelvic bone though, but don’t give her more attention than you think she deserves. I know you are not asking about Alzheimer’s Disease, but the Alzheimer’s association has a list of Retirement Communities,homes that are recommended by them, deemed the best for what they see as nursing care or retirement communities. You don’t need to tell them anything about Alzheimer’s, just ask them to give you a list that they recommmend in the area. Or you can check their website for communites they recommend.
