Quote a Removal Firm
0It can seem almost impossible to get an up-front cost to just about anything these days. When it comes to moving your home you want the best with London removals. Even if you are moving your office to another location you are going to want to know that your valuables are going to make it in one piece. Getting a free quote from a removal firm can almost seem like a breath of fresh air in a world that is not very helpful. It also means that you are going to know what the situation is from the start and not get any surprises later. When you find the right place that gives you piece of mind from the very beginning you can almost feel as though you have gotten lucky for a change. Being able to get a free quote from a removals firm before the process even begins that you are going to know from the very start just what you are going to need in order to hire a London removals firm to get the job done. When you stop and think about the cost of hiring a truck, getting your friends to help you move and the cost of gas you are going to find that in the long run it may even be cheaper. Let’s face it, moving into a new home or office is never cheap but you can make it cost effective with London removals. Just know that you are going to have serenity knowing that all of your things are being taken care of with special hands can be enough for the decision. Of course you are going to want to research a removal firm before you make a final decision but it will be worth it when it is all said and done. Take your time so that you do not hire someone that is not reputable. Reputation is very important and one that is willing to give you a free quote and stand behind their pricing is worth their weight in gold with a removals firm. You also want to make sure that they have been around for some time so you know that they have experience in what you need. The last thing that you want to do is hire a London removals firm that has only been in business for a few days and has now experienced movers on their team. This could end up giving you even more stress and worry that is even needed on top of everything else that you have going on. So instead of sitting on the sidelines and trying to figure out which way you want to go you should get your free quote with London removals and get started on making your moving checklist now. By getting this done and out of the way you are going to have the perfect removal firm already booked and ready to go on the date of your move. This is going to free up your time and may even get rid of a headache or two that has been lurking around since the whole process started.

Healthy cruising tips by USA Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)’s Vessel Sanitation Program (VSP):
1) Wash your hands frequently!
> Especially before eating or smoking, and after using the toilet.
2) If you are sick, report your illness.
* Before your voyage, ask cruise line:
> if there are alternative cruising options i. e. , voyage dates, credits, etc.
> or, consult a doctor to find out whether it is safe for you to sail.
* During your voyage, visit the ship’s medical facility and follow the medical staff’s recommendations.
3) Avoid eating and drinking anything that you think will make you sick.
* Look for inspection scores and general food service cleanliness to help you to decide where and what to eat.
There are three most well-known widespread diseases onboard cruise ship populations are Influenza, Legionnaires’ disease and Noroviruses:
1. Influenza:
* Influenza infection among travelers is the most common cruise ship illness.
* It is the most popular vaccine-preventable travelers’ disease:
> Cruise goers are encourage to have annual influenza vaccination, it is the primary method for preventing influenza and its complications.
* This cruise ship illness can cause disease in all age groups:
> Rates of infection are highest among infants, children, and adolescents.
> Serious illness and death are highest among persons over 65 years of age.
> Persons of any age who have medical conditions that place them at high risk for complications from influenza (e. g. , chronic cardiopulmonary disease).
* The risk for exposure to influenza depends on the time of year and destination:
> In Europe, seasonal epidemics of influenza generally occur during the winter months.
> In tropical, influenza can occur throughout the year.
> However, passengers on board can be exposed to influenza anytime; there always will be travelers from areas of the world where influenza viruses are circulating.
2. Legionnaires’ disease
* Legionnaires’ disease has led to pneumonia outbreaks on cruise ships.
* Contamination of ships’ whirlpool spas and potable water supply systems have most commonly been implicated sources of this cruise ship illness.
* Passengers typically develop symptoms upon completion of travel only, resulting in delayed detection and continuous transmission.
* Cruise travel typically involves stays in hotels as well as multiple environmental exposures during ports of call, it is usually difficult to link a cruise ship with infection.
3. Norovirus
* The norovirus was originally called the Norwalk Virus.
* Norovirus is often termed the “cruise ship virus”:
> Even thought the vast majority occur on land.
* Norovirus is an extremely common and highly contagious virus which causes gastroenteritis:
> An inflammation of the stomach and the intestines.
* The incubation period for norovirus-associated gastroenteritis is usually between 24 and 48 hours, but cases can occur within 12 hours of exposure.
* Symptoms of norovirus include nausea, vomiting and watery diarrhea.
* Some people may also experience headache, mild fever and abdominal cramps:
> It is sometimes known as the “24-hour stomach bug. “
> Vomiting is more common in children.
* Symptoms generally last between one and three days (24 to 60 hours):
> Medical attention is required especially among the young and elderly.
> Usually resolve without treatment or long-term consequences.
> Recovery is usually complete and there is no evidence of any serious long-term effect.

Uninterruptible Power Supplies – Design Functionality
0The design of the Uninterruptible Power Supply is determined to a large extent by the required function and what level of critical cover is expected to protect the load .
At the bottom end of the scale are ‘ Desk Tops’ the Offline UPS system , generally below 1kVA, as its name suggests it provides an unregulated filtered supply to the load at the same time maintaining the state of charge of the battery by a separate charger.
When the utility mains fails or goes out of tolerance the inverter turns on and is connected to the load via a relay. There is a short break while this operation takes place and the duration of this break is called the transfer time.
The Offline UPS system is not suitable where there are large variations in the local utility mains supply, as the load will be directly affected. To overcome this problem a Line Interactive UPS system can be used, the technology operates in a very similar way to the Offline UPS systems whereas the inverter does not provide supply to the load unless a utility mains failure or brownout has occurred.
The Line Interactive UPS system uses an active voltage regulator (AVR) to control the voltage seen by the load during normal operation; this method insures that the load has a constant voltage applied to it. Again these Uninterruptible Power Supplies are more suitable for smaller office environment loads and generally are restricted to a maximum of 10kVA.
Traditionally for larger load requirements the Double Conversion UPS system has been favoured, basically it consists of a rectifier, battery, inverter and static switch. This is generally termed- True On-line UPS -
The term ‘True On-Line’ is used because this type of UPS will really protect your mission critical equipment to the point that if you remove its power source and then re-instigate the power , there will be no effect on your equipment.
How is it work then? The True On-Line Uninterruptible power supply works by having a rectifier, which converts the utility mains ac supply to dc, has the dual function of providing a dc supply for the inverter and also a supply to recharge the battery. Therefore in the event of the utility mains failing or going out of tolerance due to voltage or frequency causing the rectifier to switch off the battery will seamlessly continue to provide the dc supply for the inverter.
The inverter then converts the dc supply back to an ac supply that is voltage and frequency controlled to supply the load. The load is therefore completely protected from any surges, spikes or sags from the utility mains supply.
The double conversion Uninterruptible Power Supply has the added advantage of what is generally called the static switch; this is an electronic changeover power switch, which selects the supply required for the load. The supply can be either the unprotected utility mains supply or the fully protected inverter supply. This feature can be very useful in the event of an overload occurring, which is beyond the rating of the inverter, the load will be automatically transferred without loss to the utility mains supply, transferring back to the protected inverter supply when the fault has been removed.
The Structure of an International Move
0We all have moved at sometime in our life, for most of us it was a Local Move or a Long Distance Move. In both kinds of moves, the loading, transporting and offloading has all been done by the same team, in the same truck. The only difference is that a Local Move is defined as a move within the boundary of one state, and a Long Distance Move is a move where you cross from one state into another.
Both kinds of moves are done by Moving Companies, Van Lines, etc. which are controlled, monitored and supervised by the Department of Transport (DOT) and are required to have a DOT License.
The logistics and complexity of these moves is very simple in comparison to an International Move.
In International Moves, the following parties (“Links”) are involved:
Pick Up Team - Usually a local mover that will come to your house, do the packing and loading into a truck for an LCL (less than container load), or sometimes (not always) into a Container in for an FCL (full container load)
Consolidation Agent - If your shipment is LCL, your HHG (Household goods) will be brought to the Consolidation Agent’s warehouse for consolidation with other shipments
Trucker - If your shipment is FCL the service of a trucker will be required. This is a company or the individual that will pick up the container from the container yard and transport it to the loading location and back to the port
US Customs authorized specialist - An individual or a company that will prepare, check and submit your shipping documentation at port of exit
Steam Ship Line -The Company that owns the ship on which the container holding your HHG will be loaded
Overseas Customs Agent -The company or individual that will handle the release of your HHG from customs overseas at port of entry
Destination Agent - Overseas Agent that will handle the receiving and distribution of the various shipments consolidated into the container
Overseas trucking company - Usually hired by the Destination Agent. The moving company that will deliver your shipment from the Destination Agent’s warehouse to your new home or to your new country when Port of entry is in a different country. If your shipment is FCL, and if (not always) your dedicated container will be brought directly to your residence, then the trucker that delivers the container to your new home.
Overseas delivery team - Usually a local mover in your new town, delivering your HHG into your new home, in case of FCL this is the team that will offload the container, position the HHG in your new home and remove the packing debris
The success of your International Move depends on the performance of each and all of the above Links. If one Link fails; your International Move may be less than successful.
A successful International Move requires excellent administration and control. Experience, integrity and professional pride are also essential. Only a well organized company, possessing the above is suitable to handle your International Move.
No company in the world owns and operates all the ‘‘Hardware” and Links described above.
Understanding the structure of an International Move makes it clear that Local Movers, Van Lines etc. are the wrong type of company to use for International Moves.
You need an international mover that will follow the move from pick up to delivery, a company that generates most of its revenue from executing International Moves, even better, a company that ONLY does International Moves.
This company MUST be licensed and under the jurisdiction of the Federal Maritime Commission (FMC). If you are using a company not licensed by the FMC to execute your International Move, you are using a company that operates illegally and you will not have recourse if things go wrong
This company MUST have an Ocean Transportation Intermediary (OTI) license.
Once Printed, Package and Ship Correctly
0Producing the perfect, beautiful print job for the U. S. Government Print Office (GPO) is only one step toward GPO success. Next come packaging, shipping and GPO acceptance.
Like with the print itself, specifications and instructions must be followed precisely or work could well be rejected. Getting printed material to the GPO late or incorrectly is not an option. You have to know what you are doing.
The GPO will spell out how it wants the printed material prepared for shipping. In some cases, the instructions assume that you have done GPO work before and know what to do.
For instance, the GPO will specify whether the work should be shrink wrapped for shipment and how many documents should be in each shrink-wrapped package. Each package is usually, but not always, required to be no more than 10 inches in height. Additionally cardboard or chipboard sheets may be placed in each package. A label identifying the job by requisition number, department name and other form information must be on each package for identification. Not putting the label in the right place on the package can lead to job rejection. Likewise putting the supplier’s name on the label can lead to rejection. Shrink-wrapped packages are usually, but not always, put in 275 pound test shipping boxes, and a separate GPO furnished label can be required to be affixed to each box. The boxes are then usually, but not always, placed on GPO specified pallets that are somewhat different from common commercial pallets. Some of this comes with GPO instructions that are received when the purchase order is made. Some of it does not.
You also have to know what to do if all the instructions are not falling into place. A client of ours once had a GPO job that specified shrink wrapping with further instructions that each shrink-wrapped package must contain 500 documents. The problem was that each package with 500 documents exceeded by about 6-inches another requirement on the same job for a 10-inch maximum shrink wrap package height. The GPO contract administrator could have resolved the problem, but it was after hours for GPO and the administrator was not available. Knowing how to make this and similar decisions is key to successfully accomplishing GPO work.
Completed work must be shipped to the government agency that placed the order. Often one or two copies must be sent to the GPO and 15 copies to the Library of Congress. Government furnished materials (photos, CDs, artwork, reference materials, etc. ) must be packaged separately and clearly marked so they get back to the person at the agency who initiated the work in the first place. Government furnished material cannot just be placed in one of the boxes of printed material, because it could end up in a warehouse and probably never seen again. This would cause huge problems with the GPO and the agency that is expecting its original artwork, photos, CDs, etc. back. But sometimes there is a requirement to break this rule and send the furnished materials in the package with the print. Knowing when to do what is key to successfully accomplishing GPO work. A general practice is to note the government furnished material as a separate item on the packing list if it is being returned along with the bulk of the shipment.
All work for the GPO must be shipped by traceable means, meaning that you must be able to provide proof of delivery with signatures. Unless the GPO stipulates a shipping method, you are to use the most cost effective means that will get the shipments delivered on time, unless, of course, you have quoted the job f. o. b. destination, then your requirement is to get the job delivered on time regardless of cost. Small package carrier services typically are the most dependable for on-time deliveries. If the product is to go through the United States Postal Service, the GPO requires special forms that must be completed. You also can opt to use your own vehicles for delivering as long as you get a signature and date showing proof of receipt.
All of this requires close attention to detail, patience, persistence and knowledge. This is where government print management experts can make the difference for you. In addition to assisting with the production and shipping processes, government print management experts assist with specification interpretation, proposal preparation, bidding process management, change order negotiation, invoice preparation and collection. Full representational services, accurate information, market intelligence, past price histories, and access to all available GPO solicitations are all an integral and requisite part of the package. The most effective GPO print suppliers have two things in common – (1) they use a print management firm to ensure their success and (2) they maximize usage of production capacity.
Here’s how:
First, print suppliers receive from the government print management firm all available GPO and other government solicitations that meet their individualized production requirements and capabilities. This allows each to bid on work which conveniently fills otherwise unused production time, thereby adding revenues and increasing profitability. This is key because production utilization for print suppliers, using a government print management firm, increases from an average of 70 percent to full utilization of 90 percent to 95 percent. While many jobs are bid low in price due to intense competition, other job opportunities – when managed by the print management firm in partnership with the supplier — command higher than commercial prices because of the job’s uniqueness, quick timing requirements or limited availability.
With a steady flow of government work, suppliers improve profits. Before GPO work, a print supplier can average 2. 5% profitability on 70% production utilization. Add GPO work through services of an expert government print management firm to manage the relationship, and bottom line profitability can increase to 10% to 15% of revenue.
Working with GPO can certainly boost your profits. Those who are successful understand what the GPO wants, how they want it and when they want it from winning the order, to delivering the finished product to invoicing correctly and getting paid in 21 days.
