The truck rental companies sell damage waiver, but only in case of accident or is it a comprehensive coverage claim?

Read the policy on the rental ins you purchased AND your car insurance policy under ‘temporary substitute vehicle’. Good chance you will be covered with the usual deductibles. It probably will exclude everything but the vehicle unless it was stolen.
PS — you will also find that the ins you purchased from the rental co is a complete waste of money (for you, not THEM)

It will cover their vehicle but not your belonging in the vehicle.

the policy you purchased does cover this,,you was very smart for adding the insurance,,most people don’t get it,,and they are responsible for the damage,,you should be OK,,as long as you called the police,,and got a police report,,the car rental company likes to see that report,,so if you don’t have one get them to fill one out for you,,i Hope this help,s.

It is supposed to be covered if you purchased their insurance but, they might give you the run around depending on the company. Also if you paid by credit card most CC companies will help you out to get things straight. Many even include their own insurance coverage to back up the rental coverage.
