SMMT forecasts increased van registration
Forecasts for full year 2010 van sales and registrations have been increased by the SMMT, after a better-than-expected first quarter.
The 7th 7% increase in van registrations for the expected annual totals is a positive sign for the industry, reflecting increased confidence and stability, and high consumer demand.
Largely unaffected by the scrapping, van registrations are set to be about 8. 6% up to 2009 reflected the confidence of the company.
SMMT chief executive Paul said Everitt: “SMMT Current projections reflect the better than expected results in the first quarter and improving consumer confidence. Should be sustainable economic recovery and improving access to more and better prices financing for businesses and consumers the priority for any new Government. ”
An example of this success was seen in Citroen vans April Numbers: –
Citroën LCV sales jumped from 47th 58% in April, so that the company faces a 9% share of the market. Strong spring-time performance of Nemo, Berlingo, Dispatch and Relay models looked Citroën LCV sales in April reached a total of 1,340 units.
With Citroën year to date (YTD) LCV sales by 22 61% to 6013, the company has virtually the entire LCV market YTD profit doubled from 11th 91%.

European Experience
Figures released by Acea, the European automotive industry body Show, 8. 8% more new commercial vehicles registered in the EU last March when, in the same month in 2009. This is the first increase in registration for almost two years. Vans were 12th 4% to 160,980 units, while heavy trucks over 16 tonnes, 15 9% to 14 087 units. For all lorries over third 5 tonnes, excluding buses and coaches, was the total of 22 040 units by 10 1%.
