What is an interesting and unique fundraising event?
Our charity is looking to put together a fundraising event, but we don’t want to do the same ole, same ole. Any ideas?

There is a brand new fundraiser from Epicure Selections. If you have never heard of it check out the web site http://www.epicureselections.com
You hand out order forms, and get everyone involved! You get three dip mixes, a recipe book and a cute lunch bag for $20.00 You keep $5.00 from every sale for your charity, and only send in the $15.00 from each sale. You get the money right away so you can help right away! If you sell 150 (which is pretty easy), you make $750.00.This just got updated in September so it’s pretty new.
I believe this could help in a big way for your fund raising efforts. Please contact me, and we can get this set up right away for you. Also I can give you more information on the products, and the items that come with the package.

I do not know what you charity is, but I recently attended a fundraiser for a literacy organization. It was a night of scrabble (under the stars). They also had a small silent auction and a light supper. The event brought in quite a few people.
Try gearing the event to the charity, and get the community involved. -

1) Hold an auction instead of your typical rummage sale.
Have everyone in the group donate items or advertise and take donated items and then hold a community auction. This will raise a lot more money than your ordinary rummage sale. as people will have to compete with each other to buy items.2) Have a Murder Mystery Dinner Show.
If you have some talented “actors and actresses” in your group set-up a mystery dinner show in your neighborhood and sell tickets to the event. Serve spaghetti and garlic bread (easy, cheap, good meal) and put on the show.3) Hold an Olympics event.
Pick fun and silly games for people to compete in. This could be a huge money maker event too as you can sell food, drinks, and even your basic rummage sale at the same time.4) Hold a Fall Festival.
Have carnival style games, buy cheap prizes on Oriental Trading.com and sell food and drinks too.5) Have a Christmas Craft Show.
If you have talented artsy people in your group have them sell their wares at a craft show. Or even just donate out your space if you have it and sell table rentals to people in your community.Whatever you decide to do ADVERTISE. Most communities have access to cheap newsletters or papers. Make fliers and put them on bulletin boards allover town.

Find an old toilet and paint it an obnoxious color…like hot pink. Place the toilet in front of a business…the business can then pay your organization $x to have the toilet moved to the business of their choice. Advertise the start and end date and the details of the fundraising.
A high school group in the community did this recently and it went over really well.

Put on a crazy bowl.
A crazy bowl is a bowling event where the participants have to bowl between the legs, using the wrong arm, etc. The bowling alley will usually have a list already made for how to bowl each frame. We do one every year and it’s a blast. The bowling alley charges us $9 per couple for 3 games and shoe rental. We charge $25. We also do 50/50 drawings and have silent auction items as well.
Talk to your local bowling alleys for info.

The most ‘unusual’ and profitable fundraiser I have heard about is the GAY BINGO held by the Hershman YM/WHA in Philadelphia. A bingo is held to raise funds for Manna, an agency that provides food and sustainance to people afflicted by AIDS. It is officiated over by Drag Queens and there are all sorts of ‘participant involvement’ such as when B7 is called, everyone there is encouraged to ‘be 7 and throw a fit’…..for more info, if this sounds interesting, google the Hershman Y in Philadelphia. It is open to the general public, is a real riot, and goes to a really good cause.
