I have a question about half price books?

They won’t give you a quote unless you bring the books in and let them take a look. How much they offer will depend on: when the book was published, its popularity, the cover price, the condition, whether they have tons of copies already, and whether they think it will sell.

They will probably offer less than you’re hoping for, but I’ve gotten some okay offers from them in the past. Honestly, sometimes I don’t care what they offer, I just want the books out of my house so I can have more space for books I’ll actually read again.

You might want to check online for some of them to see if you can get a decent price. Newer hardcovers, for example, you can sometimes sell for an okay price on sites like half.com. But if they’re all up for a few cents apiece plus shipping, I’d take them in and see what Half Price will offer. You can always say no and take the books home instead. (They give you a bulk offer for the lot, not on individual books, by the way.)

Depending on the books I bring in and how many, I’ve gotten anything from about $16 to $45. Without knowing what you have, it’s hard to say what you can expect.
