Everyone who has a copy of PS or LR seems to think we need to see their tutorial, which more often than not are poorly done, without a script to prevent rambling and disconnected comments and without preparation or even knowing the principles behind what they are demonstrating. They should all look at these tutorials by Yanik to see how to do them and to realize how a skill in teaching is vital in creating a useful teaching aid. Very well done!

OK you have to use the luminance slide in conjunction with the saturation slider. Why? Because he has created a great looking picture on the screen but it is not printable since it’s too dark.
He says these sliders are not in photoshop. Yes they are. They have been around since at least photoshop 9 in the camera raw window and work the same way. They also appear in similar manner in channel mixer in regular photoshop window.Do your homework man.

Just about the polarizing filter effect – you can not do that efect in any software. But I thing the best way is in Photoshop. You will go under select -> color range. There you will set the Fuzziness slider about 10 and with shift select the sky withnout clouds. Then add the Levels adjustment layer and move the black slider to the center. This will dark the sky, the rest of frame won’t be affected. Levels added a layer mask. Give it a try.

I hate to break it to you but Photoshop CS4 and every other version has always had Luminance adjustment, it’s just under a different name “Lightness”. You can access it by going to Edit>Image>Adjustments>Hue/Saturation or clicking Command+H. In addition you can make localized adjustments using the an adjustment layer. You can adjust the luminance of each color individually by going to the drop down menu where it says master and choose which color you want to adjust.
