Barstool Boxing Brooklyn EP4: Pacquiao vs. Clottey Fight Review
Ted, JD and Matt woke up in a really foul mood Sunday morning. Why? Watch to see them get their cranky on discussing the Manny Pacquiao v. Joshua Clottey “event”. . . oops! I mean fight.

You try knocking down someone who’s clammed up on survival mode 99% percent of a fight…then come back and talk about ridiculous. What’s ridiculous is Clottey knowing he had more power than pacquiao, knew he could tag pacquiao and still didn’t take the risk or chance like a real contender or champion would. Congrats to Pacquiao who did what he had to do and did a great job overwhelming clottey by not giving him room to breathe. A Shutout!

Didn’t ask for a KO, just said for 50 bucks I expect more than a closed up fighter & another fighter simply scoring. Pacquaio fought smart tho.
Pacquiao could have gone for a KO, but I respect the reasons he didn’t. He didn’t get himself tired & still left Clottey on the defensive.
But I know Clottey could have done more than that. I saw many opportunities for him to score . He was blocking a lot, if he got some more counters & jabbed to keep some distance he could have won some rounds.

Completely agree. If he would’ve stepped it up even a little bit, he would’ve gotten at least 4 rounds, as he was hitting pacman with more flush shots.
To be honest, I don’t know how strongly I feel that opinion. Manny spent a lot of time trying to bait him into throwing (basically what he did against Cotto). His face was pretty damaged after that fight even though he beat the shit out of Miguel.
Just disappointed because I’m not as big a fan of Clottey’s as I was before the fight.

And I agree back. Manny’s face was swollen at the end of that fight pretty bad, as in the Cotto fight. Difference is Cotto has 2x the Heart and Spirit Clottey has, and he still ended up on the floor.
Clottey also is taller and has better reach than Cotto does. I just don’t see why he wasn’t trying to throw off that “up the middle” approach from Manny by just stepping to his left and making it harder for the southpaw to get that straight left off first.

All Clottey had to do was throw jabs. After stepping to the left, that throws off Manny. You can see it in past fights from Manny, against guys like Morales. He got off punches and Manny was even faster then.
Clottey needed timing. Slip the southpaw jab or left and keep moving side to side pushing Manny back into the ropes. In Clottey’s defense, his trainer wasn’t granted a Visa for weeks
Pacman’s stature in the ring reminds me of Tyson. He intimated with power, Manny intimidates with speed.

Clottey didn’t need a special trainer to tell him to throw punches…the trainer he had was doing a good job pointing that out to him. Fact is he was scared of being countered to death and end up looking like cotto.Clottey has always fought that way but atleast he was
more agressive when
he fought judah, baldomir, cotto,margarito.With
pacquiao he felt intimidated or
reluctant to do so. Im sure he saw the oppurtunities to score like we did but he just didn’t take the risks! -

Its no mystery that clottey is naturaly bigger and stronger than pacquiao which is why he marked up pacquiao’s face with just a few hits. Pac’s face has been marked up many times..against morales, marquez, and cotto…pac’s no outside boxer. With Clottey’s height and reach he couldv’e done a lot more damage using his quick jabs and One-Two combos….not much different than what Winky Wright did to mosley!

I don’t understand why people are belittling Pac’s power. Just because he’s smaller? fuck that Clottey was mad scared that Pac would knock him ANYTIME. He wasn’t waiting to retaliate, he just tasted something early that he didn’t want to taste again. Clottey had no choice! it’s either turtle up or eat the mat. He had nothing in his arsenal against Pac.

Srvaun66, an industrial fan, huh? That sounds painful on any part of a persons anatomy.
A calculated strategy and risk is what we ask of those who compete especially on that level.
Clottys defense and jab were part of his make-up and strategy. When that proved to be inadequate against the champion and p4p best boxer in the world (Pac) where was the risk? Thanks for watching and your color comment. JD (the guy with the hat) -

Clottey did what they (Arum) wanted him to do. He was just a live punching bag Pac, for this fight he mentaly gave up before the fight started, it seemed that he was happy with the 1M payday. At least Cotto went for broke when he fought Pac. Arum, HBO, & Jerry Jones fucked the fans. They will piss down ur back & tell you it’s raining. This was a over hyped tune up for Pac. I give him (Pac) credit because he came in ready to fight. Fighting is a mental game, which Clottey was not Mentaly prepared

Clottey did all his defense tactics just to survive because it will be embarassing if the smaller guy knock him out!!!
